It was such a hassle to get the insurance policy for my W126. Having said that, you can't get the insurance online or from any of the insurance agents out there in view of old car status. I thought it would be possible to obtain a third party insurance easily since the car purchased value was so cheap, but this is impossible!
I was advice by one of my good buddies, Daryl, the Sales Manager of Sumber Auto Edaran Sdn Bhd (Honda Malaysia) to try to obtain the car insurance from Pos Malaysia. For those who wish to purchase Honda cars in Klang Valley, please grab from him. He is indeed friendly, cheerful, and helpful to assist you from A-Z, before and after sales service. :)
Back to the insurance update, well... i visited the Pos Malaysia Subang branch to give myself a try this afternoon. Guess what? You can get the car insurance for any old car from Pos Malaysia, and it is the only place you could get in Klang Valley. I was quoted RM5,000 sum insured (max) and the coverage must be from the first party insurance, as well as purchasing a Personal Accident insurance policy for the driver too.
Without further delay, i sent my W126 to Puspokom in Bandar Tasik Selatan branch for inspection. Thanks GOD, the Head of Pospakom visited the branch! Those hungry 'runners' dare not to enter to the inspection center to look for 'quick' money. All of the Puspakom officers performed their job quick, and serious, rather than dragging or delaying the process of inspection in view of the Head of Puspakom visit. The checking was pretty simple. To check on the chassis & engine numbers against the JPJ registration card; A & C pillars for both sides, & lightings. Received the inspection slip and everything went smoothly.
Drove the W126 straight to JPJ office located in Tasik Permaisuri right after the inspection. Got my road tax for 6 months (RM747.50) first, as i intended to register the car for classic status, to enjoy the big saving for the road tax later.
Finally, the W126 is legal to drive around on the road again! Guess i should send my W126 to paint the body and have it handsome look again!
